On Sept. 10, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution designating Oct. 7 – Oct. 13 Naturopathic Medicine Week. The resolution recognizes the value of naturopathic medicine in providing safe, effective, and affordable health care and encourages Americans to learn about the role of naturopathic physicians in preventing chronic and debilitating conditions. For those of you who missed my Health Matters lecture on “What is Naturopathic Medicine?”, naturopathic medicine is a form of cost-effective primary care medicine that:
- Considers the whole person
- Focuses on the causes of illness, not just the symptoms
- Emphasizes prevention and ongoing wellness
- Uses natural treatments that are less invasive and less expensive than conventional drugs and surgery.
Please spread the word on your experiences with naturopathic medicine!
